How to Join New Yarn in Knitting

How to Join New Yarn
Some beginner knitters are not confident when it comes to changing yarn in knitting, so what’s the most reliable way to join in new yarn, and what should we do with those extra yarn tails? In this tutorial, I am going to show you two ways of joining in new yarn. The first method is to tie both yarn strands together, it’s really that simple, the second method is to start knitting with the new yarn in the first stitch of a row. Both methods need weaving in those extra yarn tails afterwards. Personally, I’d prefer the second method because it leaves yarn tails along the side edges which are much easier to be weaved into.

    What about option method 3m

Hi James, method 3 works just like method 2, the only difference is where you drop the old yarn. In method 3, you change yarn in the middle of the row by bringing in new yarn without tying a knot to the old yarn.
