Have you ever wanted to knit a gorgeous cable scarf in less than two days? Believe it or not, I’ve come up with this very easy scarf pattern, it has intricate and elegant cable stitches on top, yet it’s surprisingly simple to make, every beginner knitters can take up the project very quickly.
My inspiration
I’ve always wanted to make a long, long hand-knit scarf to keep myself warm during cold winter weather, I’d like the scarf to be long enough so that I can wrap it around neck without much difficulty, just think about it, how comfy that looks!
The next thing I should do is to find some elegant stitches to match this winter scarf, the first thing came to my mind is cable stitch, because cabled knitting piece has great thickness that goes well with a winter scarf. So I started to look through my good old stitch books for inspirations, and finally, with some stitch modifications, I came up with this scarf pattern.
The scarf is incredibly easy to make, how simple? Well you don’t even have to look at the pattern at all while knitting. With just one cable row that repeats again and again, all other rows are “knit the knits and purl the purls”. Sounds too good to be true, Right?
Materials
This is a two skeins project. The yarn I chose for this scarf is medium weight yarn, I used Vanna’s Choice from Lion brand, the yarn is soft and lightweight that matches well with a comfy look.
You can substitute it with other yarn, as long as the yarn is in the same weight category (I recommend wool or premium acrylic yarn). You will also need a pair of needles, either double/single-pointed needles or a circular needle will do the trick.
