Make One Right (M1R) is the mirrored stitch of M1L (Make One Left), meaning it leans to the right and often comes in pairs with M1L to create a symmetrical appearance. M1R and M1L are called Make One (M1) when the leaning direction is not specifically indicated. To Make One Right, you’re going to add the new stitch into the yarn strand between two stitches, you just pick that little strand up and knit into the back loop to create a new stitch.

Left-handed Make One Right (M1R)
In left-handed knitting, it’s a bit tricky to do increasing and decreasing stitches, because some of these stitches are directional, leaning to one direction. A rule of thumb is that, if the stitch is a neutral stitch, then its left-handed version is performed in the same way, if the stitch is directional, then its left-handed version is altered.
Since M1R leans to the right, its left-handed version is performed like M1L instead of M1R.
